I flew to Pontevedra, Spain to compete in the World Aquathlon Championships on 27th June, 2025. This is the second time I have competed in Pontevedra, a lovely area with fabulous event organisation and facilities.
With an air temperature of 27.4 degrees and a water temperature in the river of 23.6 degrees, the swim was non wetsuit.
I got a good start in the water and managed a strong swim, coming out in 4th place in my age group. The race took place at the hottest part of the day and the run was tough in the heat. I managed to finish the race in 6th place in my age group with a 1 minute PB from last year’s Aquathlon race. This is my highest ever placing at a World or European event.
