The last event of the season saw me travel to Vichy in France for the European Championships competing in the 20 – 24 Age Group Sprint Triathlon.
This was my third European Championships for Triathlon and my first time in France. Vichy is a lovely city, a mix of modern and old architecture, and the weather was extremely kind, sunny but breezy on race day.
The river swim was a challenge with a strong current and lots of pulling and pushing in the water but I had a good strong swim coming out 4th in my age group. The bike course was extremely windy but I kept a good pace and put in a respectable time. I had a good solid run on an uneven slippy surface and my transitions were relatively smooth. Overall I managed a personal best time for a GBR Sprint Triathlon and was really pleased with my performance.
Now time to reflect on the the season, look at the positives and work on progressing and improving over the winter. The season starts again in April and I have several local triathlons, GBR qualifiers and World Championships to work towards.
As always a big thank you to the following people for your sponsorship, support, words of encouragement, treatment, bike servicing, equipment and just being there for me. Without all of you this would not be possible.
